Meditation

What I love about meditation at Fare Thee Well is how utterly simple it is.
There is no direction as to which form of meditation we are to practice.
Each person can do their own practice and still be in community and presence with others seeking the silence of their inner being and growth and development of their person.

There are literally countless forms of meditation. The core objective is quieting the mind. We are not looking for anything, not trying to see or envision anything, we simply sit in silence and count our breath. As thoughts float in like clouds, we can observe them, recognize them as thoughts separate from our identity, and let them float on. We meet our thoughts in meditation so we can notice our patterns, and eventually they diminish.
We have fewer and fewer of these involuntary thoughts, and we become far less reactive to the thoughts we have and this drastically affects our reactivity to the outer world.

We come together around the fire, settle into twenty minutes of silence together, and then we have discussion prompted by a quote or a passage from a book and we connect the current events of our lives with the topic so we can see how to apply the principles to our lives beyond our spiritual practice.
